The
Samsung D840 is a really smart-looking slide phone with a metallic
casing. The silver casing marks a new direction for Samsung, with
a look that's similar to Motorola's original RAZR
phone. The finish is very attractive, with subtle curves and
bevelled cuts. It's hitting the shops at a time when 6 out of the
top 10 best sellers are slide phones, so Samsung are definitely
riding a wave with this one. And, as if that weren't enough, it's
even slimmer than the Samsung D900,
making the D840 the slimmest slide phone yet released (now beaten
by the new Samsung U600!)Due to its thinness, the D840 felt comfortable in our trouser pockets and it didn't feel too heavy either. It's wide enough that you don't need to grip it with a pair of tweezers to make a call though, and it won't feel as though you're holding a chopstick to the side of your face either.
