The SGH-T429 has a 500-contact phone book with room in each entry for five phone numbers, an e-mail address, and notes. You can organize callers into groups and pair them with a photo or one of 15 polyphonic ringtones. Other essentials include a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, a voice memo recorder, an alarm clock, a calendar, a task list, a notepad, a calculator, a world clock, a timer, a stopwatch, and a tip calculator. The handset also offers Bluetooth and instant messaging for AOL, ICQ, Windows Live, and Yahoo. The VGA camera takes pictures in four resolutions (from 640x480 down to 128x96). Other settings include a night mode, ISO, metering exposure, brightness and white balance settings, five color effects, a self-timer, and a 4x digital zoom. You get three shutter sounds (though there's no silent option), but you can deactivate the zoom and brightness meter sounds. The SGH-T429's photo quality was decent for a VGA shooter. Colors were bright and there was enough light, though some objects were blurry. The handset offers just 2.7MB of shared memory, so there's not a lot of space for avid shutterbugs. The SGH-T429's camera does not record video.
